Statement of Faith

The Holy Scriptures

The Bible translation used at Emmanuel Baptist Church is the King James Version. We believe it to be God’s Word for the English-speaking people. The Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the foundation of our statement of faith.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. — 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)

God the Father

We believe in God the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth.
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 (KJV)

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, His Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, willingly and vicariously suffered and died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day. He is seated at the right hand of the Father, where He intercedes for us.
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…” 1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)
“He is risen, as he said.” Matthew 28:6 (KJV)
“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost… seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”Hebrews 7:25 (KJV)

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who inspired the writing of the Holy Scriptures and convicts mankind of sin.
“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Peter 1:21 (KJV)
“And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin…”John 16:8 (KJV)

Last Things

We believe in the second coming of Christ, the bodily resurrection, and life everlasting.
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout…” 1 Thessalonians 4:16 (KJV)
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” Matthew 25:46 (KJV)

The Church

We band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation with lost mankind.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” Matthew 28:19 (KJV)

Ordinances

The ordinances of the church are baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death…” Romans 6:4 (KJV)
“For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.”1 Corinthians 11:26 (KJV)
